Chongqing Electromechanical Vocational Institute (registration code in Ministry of Education: 12607) is a state-owned and state-run regular institution of higher learning affiliated to China Weapon Equipment Company (Group) . It was founded upon Chongqing Weaponry Workers' University by such large-scale enterprises in weaponry industry as the Southwest Bureau of Weaponry Industry , Chang'an Group, Jialing Group and Jianshe Group, etc. through a joint-stock system. It has been approved by Chongqing Municipal Government (Official Document No.: CQ Gov. [2003] No.104) and put on record by National Ministry of Education ( Official Document No.: ME Letter [2003] No.145).

The Institute boasts a well-qualified professional teaching and research team with abundant and solid strength, reasonable structure, sufficient reserve force and professional ethics. At present, there are 236 full-time teachers in the Institute including 57 professors and associate professors, 120 lecturers, and 33 “double master” teachers. The Institute aims at cultivating applied high-level specialized talents with pioneering spirits and strong practice ability, who can initiatively meet the needs of the development of the social economy and culture for solid foundation, expert specialty and strong capability. It has developed a set of scientific and full-fledged education and teaching systems.

The Institute has excellent experimental and training equipment valued nearly at ￥ 20 million RMB, among which the mechanical and electrical laboratories such as the automobile electronic and electric lab, the mould lab, and the numerical controlling center are in the leading position compared with those of other similar institutes. The equipment can fully meet the needs of teaching, experimenting and training. At the same time, every large-scale southwest weaponry enterprise offers domestically advanced equipment and facilities, and professional technical support for the students' experiments and trainings.

The Institute altogether offered nearly 30 specialties and now it offers 19 specialties, among which 9 are for higher vocational education, namely automobile manufacture and assembly technology, electric automation technology, mould design and manufacture, maintenance and management of electromechanical equipment (motorcycle direction), mechanical and electrical integration technology, machine design and manufacture, computer information management, computer application technology, numerical control technology. At present, 5 specialty groups have been formed, namely automobile engineering, mechanical & electrical technology, machine processing, computer information, and industrial and commercial administration.

The Institute adopts the " institute + enterprise " pattern of running school. Relying on such core automobile and motorcycle enterprises as Chang'an Group, Jialing Group and Jianshe Group, etc, it possesses incomparable superiority in terms of both running school and students' employment. The Institute implements the " customizing " training pattern, that is, it enrolls and trains students according to the specialties and number needed by the enterprises, in order to make the students have an easy access to jobs.
